Working with SCORE Northern Nevada
At the University of Nevada, Reno Innevation Center – Powered by Switch, there are a number of organizations that support entrepreneurship and business development. SCORE Northern Nevada is one of these organizations and they offer their services out of the Innevation Center among other locations. Of course the first question is always “What is SCORE?” SCORE is a national non-profit organization that provides free business mentoring and education throughout the US. The chapter that serves Reno is called SCORE Northern Nevada and is a mid-sized chapter as far as SCORE chapters go.
Northern Nevada SCORE is a non-profit, volunteer-based group of both retired and active professionals who are dedicated to small business education and formation, growth and success. We offer Free and Confidential business advice, mentoring, and workshops.

How does SCORE Help?
SCORE Northern Nevada has a mission to support all small businesses and entrepreneurs in the region. They do this by providing free weekly workshops and linking up entrepreneurs with one of their over 50 active mentors. SCORE workshops cover a range of topics from Facebook marketing to company exit planning and any business professional is welcome to sign up and attend. Should I ask SCORE for help?
With SCORE Northern Nevada’s diverse and expansive mentor-set, chances are there is a mentor than can help you. Whether you are early in the ideation phase or are moving forward with setting up your small business, SCORE mentors will give you experienced feedback on what you’ve done, what you are doing now, and your future plans. That said, SCORE is one of the local organizations that have experience working with extremely early stage business development and it is never too soon to reach out if you are thinking about starting your own business. So don’t be bashful, contact SCORE even if you are on the fence and they can guide you from there.
How do I contact SCORE?
In our digital age, the easiest way to contact SCORE is to visit their website and submit a Mentor Request. Mentor Requests are processed based on location so input your zip code to start and you’ll be redirected to a page to fill out your contact info and provide a little additional information about the support you are looking for. A local SCORE mentor will get back to you with your preferred method of contact within 1-2 business days. If visiting them online isn’t an option, you can always call them at (844) 232-7227. Don’t be surprised by the automated message machine, they’ll take your information and get back to you in 1-2 business days.
